I am a pastry chef and I used one of these at a restaurant I worked for every day and when it came time to replace my scale at home, there wasn't any other!
It is very slender and light. And if you have to weigh something in a large bowl, use a smaller bowl or cup, place in the middle, tare it out, and measure away.
I have nothing negative to say about this scale! I use the standard metric setting, but if you need to use ounces, just turn the scale over, press the button, and away you go.
I'm very happy with this scale!

I've been using this little scale for about 8 months now and still like it allot. I've seen complaints about the small size not being able to handle large items as well as high weights. Well, you have a larger scale for measuring larger and heavier. You don't use the same size pot, baking dish, etc. for everything so why should one inexpensive scale be suitable for all needs. If one wants a scale that can handle everything and anything then you put out big bucks and get a professional commercial scale.
I highly recommend the Soehnle 66100 for the average needs of most home cooks and would not hesitate to give it as a gift.

Scale is small and thin as noted by other reviewers. Well made, with meticulous fit and finish. It powers on quickly, tares quickly and provides instant weight readings on a large, crisp display. Simple operation and great form factor. Best kitchen scale I have ever seen.
